Theme

I think the theme for this book so far is that you should never give upon your dreams. Eddy acomplished somany things on his trip. When he was battling a huge rapid, he lost his gloves which kept his hands warm, and they were gone. He never gave up even though he lost his gloves which helped him paddle. He knew that he needed to keep on going to finish the journey. Another battle he faced was when he had to make it past a barge that was traveling up the river. All he could do was paddle to the shore and wait for the barge to pass, but it was something he had to do to finish his trip. These examples helped him continue on to finish his trip.

  1. i totally agree, in chapter 19 eddy wakes up to a beautiful morning, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining. this encourages eddy to keep going. he loves mornings like this and he says this is why he took the trip. where there comes hardships, there will be reward.

  2. I agree with this post because he has many obstacles that he faces, some difficult and simple. Although he faces many problems Eddy continues to follow his dream and to acomplish his goal. I agree with you when you say this is the theme because this is the main lesson learned. You must follow your dream and never give up on what you truly want.
